Carolyn is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm, as well as managing clients in the areas of public and community relations, and real estate.
[back]Carolyn L. Spicer has been with McDermott Ventures since its inception eleven years ago. She has had the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the company's growth, and has held many roles in the company, now serving as Executive Vice President. Carolyn is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm, as well as managing clients in the areas of public and community relations, and real estate.
She has managed many complex real estate projects in the Greater Boston area. She is currently working with the Related Companies on its mixed-use development proposal for the former Polaroid site in Waltham, in addition to other local real estate development projects including Trans National Tower in Winthrop Square in Boston. Other downtown projects Carolyn has participated in include: The Clarendon in Boston's Back Bay; Equity Office's historic redevelopment of Russia Wharf in the Financial District/Fort Point Channel; and the Fan Pier project on South Boston's waterfront.
Carolyn is a Fellow in the Emerging Leaders Program at The Center for Collaborative Leadership/University of Massachusetts-Boston, and serves on the Board of Visitors and the Buildings & Grounds Committee of New England Baptist Hospital. In addition, she serves on the Board of Trustees of Heading Home (formerly Shelter Inc.) an organization whose mission is to end homelessness in Greater Boston. Most recently, Carolyn was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay a non-profit harbor advocacy organization dedicated to restoring and protecting Boston Harbor, Massachusetts Bay, and the marine environment. In 2007, Carolyn ran the Boston Marathon to raise money for Boston Medical Center. Carolyn was recently recognized by Banker and Tradesman as a '2009 New Leader.'
